Last updated: July 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how edu-optics.com (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit or make a purchase from edu-optics.com (the “Site”). It also describes your privacy rights, including rights available to residents of California and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws.
1. Who we are
edu-optics.com is operated by Dawid Kazanowski, a sole proprietor located in Poland (see our Legal Notice for full seller details). For questions about this Policy or your personal information, contact eduoptyka@proton.me.
2. Personal information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: name, email address, billing address, IP address, order number.
- Commercial information: products viewed, products purchased, transaction amount, purchase history.
- Internet or network activity: pages viewed, referring URLs, browser type, device type, session information, cookie identifiers.
- Geolocation (approximate, IP-based): country / region, used for tax and delivery routing.
- Payment information: handled by our payment processors (Shopify Payments, Stripe, PayPal). We do not store full card numbers on our systems.
- Inferences: preferences and interests inferred from the above for marketing.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA) for the purpose of inferring characteristics.
3. How we collect personal information
- Directly from you when you place an order, contact us, or subscribe to updates.
- Automatically from your device via cookies, pixels, and similar technologies when you visit the Site.
- From our service providers (payment processors, analytics providers, ad networks).
4. How we use your personal information
- To process your order and deliver the digital product you purchased.
- To send order confirmations, delivery emails, and required transactional messages.
- To provide customer support and respond to your inquiries.
- To detect and prevent fraud, chargebacks, and other unlawful activity.
- To improve the Site, products, and marketing.
- To send marketing communications, where you have opted in or where permitted by law (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
5. How we share personal information
We share personal information with the following categories of recipients:
- E-commerce platform: Shopify Inc. (hosting, checkout, order management).
- Payment processors: Shopify Payments, Stripe, PayPal.
- Digital delivery provider: Shopify Digital Downloads (for the download link).
- Analytics providers: Shopify Analytics and, where enabled, third-party analytics tools.
- Advertising partners: where enabled, third-party advertising networks (for example Meta / Facebook, Google) that may use cookies or pixels on our Site.
- Legal recipients: government or law enforcement authorities where required by law, and legal or accounting advisors bound by confidentiality.
We do not sell your personal information in exchange for money. However, our use of advertising cookies and pixels may be considered “sharing” or a “sale” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under some U.S. state privacy laws. You can opt out — see Section 8.
6. International data transfers
Because our service providers are global, personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, Canada, Ireland, and Poland. Where transfers occur, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms such as standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep personal information
- Order and transaction records: for the duration of the customer relationship plus the period required by tax and accounting law (typically up to 6 years).
- Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent.
- Cookies: as described in your browser settings and our cookie disclosures.
- Support correspondence: up to 3 years after the last message.
8. Your privacy rights
If you are a resident of California or another U.S. state with comprehensive privacy legislation (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and others as applicable), you may have the following rights, subject to verification and legal exceptions:
- Right to know what personal information we collect, use, share, and (where applicable) sell.
- Right to access the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
- Right to delete personal information we have collected from you.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information.
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
- Right to designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf.
To submit a request, email eduoptyka@proton.me with the subject line “Privacy request”. We will verify your identity by matching information you provide with information we already hold about you. We respond within 45 days.
You can also submit an opt-out of sale/sharing request through our “Your privacy choices” page linked in the site footer, or by using a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser — we honor GPC as an opt-out request.
9. Cookies and tracking
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functions (checkout, cart, security), analytics, and (where enabled) advertising. You can manage cookies through the cookie banner on the Site and in your browser settings.
10. Children
The Site is intended for business buyers (opticians and eyewear shops). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including TLS encryption of the Site, restricted access to systems, and use of reputable service providers with their own security programs. No online transmission is fully secure.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected on the Site.
